ML2 is also making me hear my modified AI M3A pre-amp, not to mention I guess I could now benefit from all shielded cables. All this stuff was fine with the Wright 2A3s. Speakers: I built a version of Dick Olsher's 3-way Diamond...
Speakers: I built a version of Dick Olsher's 3-way Diamond Edition BassZilla (hard to find at www.blackdahlia.com), and I tricked it out considerably from his mule. Bass is BR, 15" Audax P380MR, which is a nice semi-...
Any ideas for sources for 6AK5 and 5651A? Seems like most of the ML2 tubes are "hard to find" from local sources.
I do not know why you say it. Both 6AK5 and 5651 are very common and very inexpensive tubes. The 6...

Paul I slightly surprised about your comments. The regulating aerial amplifier tube affected sound very mildly, if ever, at least it was my experience. I had a few different 6AK5 but changing them was not a highly notable effect. I still have left a ...

Well, I hope that Romy is the only one who still thinks I'm tube rolling, because this post is even farther afield (although it is almost a spin off from the previous posts about AC/grounding).I finally got around to adding not-terrible po...
I bought the ML2s to use as a development/reference tool while constructing this horn system. The idea being that I would first use them to dial in the horns, and later as a reference, to which I would compare and evolve ...
"Short the ML2’s inputs and the hiss should be gone"
I assume it is not a mistake, and that you mean short the unused input on each POWER AMP (as opposed to the PREAMP).
(I am currently using the XLR connections becau...
I should mention that with all the wonderful things it does, the L2 (preamp) definitely deserves a fresh pair of 12AX3s and a 6C19P. (I have not changed them since starting work on the horns... all tubes are exactly one ye...

Jessie, I think you go overly crazzy in here. The buzzing you got is from your inaccuracy of your “small clips”. A Regular divider at input should not have ant noise, regardless the resistors were used. Do not spend a lot and do not go into the craz...
I absolutely hear the feedback working in the ML2, and I happen to like the effect a lot…
Can you elaborate on it in subjective terms? How what you hear are you able to attribute to feedback and how do you know that it ...
The one thing that the Lamm ML2 does differently than nearly all tube amps is regulation of the output stage. They do this with the 2nd 6C33C that is on the chassis. Even the KR amps don't do this and I think it is...
Then, there is the ML2, which seems to take a +/- rigorous approach to dealing with consciousness/"expectations", whether acquired or basal, by somehow dishing out sound that has been "dealt with" in some sort of proprietary mann...
I don’t have a pair of Melquaid DSETs. I drive the horns with a pair of Lamm ML2s, running full range. I use a second pair of M1.1s for lower bass. The ML2s are hard to fault. In fact at this point, I can only find positi...

OK , so I looked at the April 2008 Stereophile.I noticed a while back that Art Dudley stopped listing his ML2.1s as "assocoated equipment" along with his reviews, listing instead the Shindo Montele and Cortese stereo SETs, and then just the Cort...

Be careful with those 5751. ML2 became unstable with 6db more or less (I do not remember already) global feedback. Lamm told me a long and big story how critical for ML2 to have the global feedback of exact amount and how “properly” the feedback is i...
I don't know what you mean by "the demagnetizing coils in its output transformer". What does this mean?
I do not have any plans about ML2. A friend of my asked me to help him with his ML2. So, I did end up the amps s...

Reading at my site Paul’s narrative about his fight with ML2’s tube and the ML2’s tube sockets I need to confess that I always was suspecting that he is some kind of odd wacko with bizarre and sick approach to the subject of amplifier tubing. Too muc...

After a few years I have again pair of Lamm ML2 in my room and I decide to take advantage and render my experience with this amp into a format of my today’s understanding. I know ML2 quiet we and used it with a number of loads. Over the time I develo...
After a few minutes, I checked the amps with a (Fluke 189) DMM, just for drill. Voltage was set down to 175, but current was about 450 mA. Dialing down the pots, I could not get the current below 390 mA, even t...

Here is one of these "Audio-Cretins" who is using a ML2.1. I am going to modify it a little bit, new high quality binding posts (WBS pure silver), Mundorf Caps etc. Someone here who did some mods or did think about it?...

I just bought a pair of Lamm ML2`s. I live in Norway, so I have to convert the amps from 110v to 220v or 240v. The offical voltage in Norway is 230v, but it varies a lot. Does anybody know how to convert the amps?. The should be a wheel to select the...

Thank you JD for all the information. It was most helpfull. I will get the amps in the original crates, the instructions manual anf a few sets replacement tubes. Do you know the physical size of the fuses?. Seems like I have to buy some. I have alrea...

Thank you for all the advice. It`s been most helpfull. Thank you jd* for the illustrations. I look forward to try these amps in my system. Hato ...
So, does anyone know anything about "good" sockets for the ML-2s? I forget when and where I saw some sort of boutique Teflon jobbies that are pretty darned expensive. Maybe DIY Hi-Fi, in Hong Kong? Also, although Teflon is a ...
If Lamm had actually used the larger 950s in my unit I would probably be less curious about it, but for mine he used 10uF 935 couplers with small 950s for bypass (... I assume they are bypass caps...). Hard to imagine 10 uF ...

Laurent,
The V2 in 6C33C does NOT need to be matched by other characteristic then gain and it is very easy to do. If you have two V2 tubes and they have different entry points for bias but the same gains then you will not detect any sonic cons...
Does anyone know the voltage the big couping caps actually see? Yes, I should measure it, but I would rather avoid the drill of opening the amps, propping them up somehow and measuring if someone already knows the answer. Of co...

Today I replaced the problematic pair of Chinese 7 pin sockets on one of my ML2s. It looked like they were replaced at least once before, and that my job is at least the second set of replacement sockets, so three total counting the OEM pair. There...

Paul-Again the disclaimer - I don't have a schematic nor is the circuit board fully visible, so these are solely my speculations and I could be wrong. 'What is the
MKP's value, and why do you think it's "the" coupler, while the 'Cubes
are else?'I...
